2004 Gibson ES-333 Tom DeLonge Signature -SOLD-
Item ID: 36
Availability: Not for Sale
2004 Gibson ES-333 Tom DeLonge Signature semi-hollow guitar with the original hardshell case. As a long time Blink-182 fan I was really excited to get this guitar in. I might be dating myself a bit but I was lucky enough to catch them on one of the first tours they did with another great pop-punk band called Squirtgun. The live show was so much fun that they got me pretty much hooked on the entire Cheshire record. I think when I did catch them on some of those early tours that Tom would play a strat which was good sounding but not in the same ballpark as this guitar. I have a pretty big soft spot for 70's Gibson with Dirty Fingers on it so this is a guitar I had a lot of fun with. The looks are sleek and a bit modern but it does have those nice old school touches like double F-holes and natural headstock. The sound is for sure a whole different level from his strat days. It is a simple design but not a one trick pony. The dirty finger is going to be a bit warmer than most stock pick ups and if you like playing with gain I have a feeling you will love the sound this gets. It for sure can knock out the more modern punk/hardcore/rock with ease. I was playing it with that newer JCM 800 clone I have (check out my youtube videos to hear it) and when I rolled off the volume and hit the clean channel the clarity I was able to get off the bridge is pretty amazing. I actually ran it with a little chorus and you can get pretty close to the tone Tom gets on stage. I didn't have feedback issues since they build these with the big internal block but it was nice to have that semi-hollow bigger sound. I love the stock locking tuners, if you haven't used them before you are going to love the speed you can change strings on the fly. Even if you aren't a Tom DeLonge fan but would like a real road worthy GIbson semi-hollow this would be a great choice.
Headstock is clean, frets have hardly any wear, rosewood board looks great, front of the body has picking scratches and some tiny pinhead sized dings, one small ding on the back of the neck, back of the body has buckle rash and some small black lines were left from the wear but look like they could be buffed out, sides are clean, bottom has some wear. The finish has a really small hairline crack but it is only in the finish and pretty tough to see if you are not looking for it. Of course I had it checked out and my tech agrees that it is 100 percent cosmetic and does not need any repair. Overall I would give it a 7.5 out of 10. Electronics are great.
