1986 Heritage Golden Eagle -SOLD-
Item ID: 50
Availability: Not for Sale
1986 Heritage Golden Eagle with the original Heritage case. I am one of the biggest Heritage fans around and when I came across this one in New England it reinforced what I have heard that Heritage is just really on top of its game. Appears to be an 86 with the C serial number and when it comes out of the case it is a head turner guaranteed. For the newer players they all just stare and ask the usual questions that you get when they don't know of Heritage but the older players usually strike me up in the Gibson VS Heritage debate. So I did have a CES in at the beginning of the year and if we are talking about which one I would pick I would go for the Heritage. First off I think you get more bang for your buck, bound F-holes, flame bound pickguard, front and back inlayed headstock, MOP truss rod cover, and check out the bound ebony board with triple pin stripes. Most importantly I think the neck is a bit friendlier (not as beefy/rounded) and the tone I find better balanced with the clearest mids. The tone has that vintage swanky feel so the blues guys should love this guitar but jazz players you will also love how easy this guitar is to play. I didn't forget about you rockabilly players, if you can really dial in a nice amp you are going to love some of the 50s/60s type rock tone you can get. Nice big sustain and even if you just want to practice without an amp this guitar is perfect for that with a nice loud acoustic presence. Looks like it is a carved arch top made from spruce and the back/sides appears to be curly maple.
Condition for a 25 year old players piece is good. Headstock looks good with very light wear, MOP cloud/block inlays look mint, board looks very well maintained, frets are original with very light wear, front of the body has small dings and scratches. The person who had the guitar last said it looked like it had a body repair just right of the pickguard and I agree it does look like it has. I showed it to EQ Guitar Repair in Boston and they said it might have had a hairline body crack which is normal for hollowbodies in New England but the repair was solid. I did have them just clean it up a bit more and as you can see it looks great and does not effect the playability at all. Neck is clean with 2 small dings, back of the body has some bucklerash, bottom/sides are very clean. Overall I would give it a 7.5 - 8 and the case looks like it is excellent condition. It does have the Heritage sticker inside the body with the signatures of the guys who made this guitar.
