1987 Martin MC-28 -SOLD-
Item ID: 27
Availability: Not for Sale
1987 Martin MC-28 (Sorry Dave got the model name mixed up with the fact that is has 22 frets) acoustic guitar with a hardshell case. If you don't want a huge acoustic but one that still has some big presence and projection, this would be a good choice for sure. Also this one is pretty rare, I only see a handful a year for sale and for the last two years I can only recall seeing two others. This one sounds nicely balanced and no thin high notes, just a well balanced mix but a nice low/mid profile that stands out. It is shockingly louder than you would expect and also resonates like a larger model. The looks and playing feel are top notch. They used a more classic looking cut away and the oval sound hole give it a vintage look. They went with an ebony fingerboard, spruce top, and rosewood back/sides. Feels great and I find the neck to a be a bit more friendly compared to the smaller modern ones mostly done now on Martins.
Condition is good. Headstock has some tiny dings, frets/board/inlays look excellent, front of the body has pick wear and tiny dings, back of the neck looks great, back of the body has buckle rash, sides look good. I would give it an 7-8 out of 10 for over all condition. Previous owner installed a pick up and endpin input but did not remember the pick up model. Pick up works perfectly. When we first got it in the string height was to high for my liking so I had Dave cut a new bridge saddle which did help a ton. Now it is way more player friendly and only starts to get higher around the 15th fret. He mentioned that New England is not the most acoustic friendly climate but if the new owner lives in a more humid area that also might help.
